Verizon: iPhone killer on the loose
Posted on 30. Oct, 2009 by Victor Leichner in News, Reviews
By now, you’ve seen the iDon’t/Droid Does commercials by Verizon, right? If you haven’t, just click the link I provided.
Verizon has recently been taking shots at the iPhone, highlighting the shortfalls of the phone (mainly coverage and some software inadequacies). The new Droid line of phones is Verizon’s attempt at reducing the loss of customers because of the iPhone, but the real question in all of this is of course whether or not the new Droid phones will be “iPhone killers.” (more…)

One more addition to the family
Posted on 29. Oct, 2009 by Victor Leichner in News, Other
Hello there. I just want to take a few minutes to introduce myself and tell you a little about my intentions with Your Brain on Tech.
My name is Victor Leichner, and I’m a fifth year senior at Central Michigan University. I am majoring in general business management with a minor in psychology; basically something completely unrelated to technology.
However, I have held an active interest mostly in Apple products since the days of my youth. I have owned numerous Macintosh computers and own a few now even.
In the interest of journalistic integrity, I will come out and just state that I am fully a Mac fan-boy. That doesn’t mean I subscribe to Apple’s philosophy fully, though, so look forward to some criticisms at least.
I have already contributed to one segment on the show about iPhone applications (look! I’m in the credits
), but I intend to write about other things Mac related on this webpage as well.
I have a few ideas about things to write about right away, so look for my articles in the coming days!

Batman Vanishing No, It’s not our Best of the Web for Episode 3, but it is the best internet video I have seen in a while.

Facebook Lite worth the switch
Posted on 19. Oct, 2009 by Eric Hurst in Other
I have to say, I was a bit of a hypocrite after Episode 1.We talked about Facebook Lite and yet I refused to use it (mainly because its not on my top sites in Google Chrome).
Well the past couple days, Facebook has been acting up on me in Chrome. Strangely, whenever I had a notification it would try to download something. It was weird.
So I made the switch to Facebook Lite today.
It’s much more streamlined, it looks much nicer and is a breeze to use. The only important thing I lost in the transition was Facebook Chat — but lets be honest — that program is trash.
Your editor of all things print!
Posted on 14. Oct, 2009 by Chris Schanz in News
Hey all, Chris Schanz here.
First and foremost, welcome to Your Brain on Tech, and I hope you enjoyed Episode #1! Let YBOT be your main source for everything you love about technology, the Internet and media.
Soon, this venture will expand into areas other than technology, but for the time being, technology will indeed be our bread and butter.
So, that leads us to me. Who am I, why am I here and what is my purpose?
Who am I? As I said before, my name is Chris Schanz. I’m a senior at Central Michigan University and I am studying journalism with a minor in sports studies. I am originally from Saginaw, Mich., and currently call Mt. Pleasant, Mich. my home.
Why am I here? If you checked out the credits of Episode #1, you will not find my name there, and for good reason. As of right now, I have absolutely nothing to do with the YBOT episodes. Essentially, you might think, I’m here for moral support.
In a way, I am. But I do, however, have an actual position here at Your Brain on Tech. I was asked by producers Eric Hurst and Brian Gotts to contribute to their blog/show (YBOT) and also to edit the blog itself. Therefore, my title is “Blogger and Chief Editor of Print.”
What is my purpose? Anything you will find here at YBOT that has nothing to do with the video episodes or webisodes will be run through me before posting to the site. This includes reviews, commentary or supplemental information to the video episodes that appear on this site. It will all be edited by me; your editor of all things print!
Therefore, that puts me in charge of anything written found on this website, and I am thrilled that Brian and Eric asked me to be a part of their team.
Expect big things, and I hope you all enjoy what we will have to offer — from hosts Mike McArthur and Lauren Moss, the two aforementioned producers Brian and Eric, production director Brad Osantoski and everyone else associated with Your Brain on Tech — until next time!
